All writers are readers — Kelford Labs Daily
Read more, write better.
Not all readers are writers.
But all writers are readers.
So if you want to get better at writing blog posts, newsletters, LinkedIn posts, or sales copy, the secret isn’t to stare at the blank page longer.
It’s to spend more time reading. More time analyzing what you like and don’t like about everything you’ve written before, and everything everyone else has ever written.
“A good writer,” Hemingway once said, “should know as near everything as possible.”
We’ll never know everything, of course, but the pursuit of it is the point. The act of learning, reading, analyzing, and thinking is the fuel that makes the writing possible and performant.
So if you think you’re not a writer, or creative, or capable of creating the right words to get your value across, think again.
No, scratch that. Read again. Read constantly.
And you’ll learn the trick that all good writers already know:
All writers are readers.
