Certainty in a new season — Kelford Labs Daily
By being flexible.

If you spend any time on LinkedIn, you’ve probably seen plenty of people complaining about the algorithm.
Organic reach is down. Engagement is down. Spirits are down.
That’s what I mean by “seasons,” by the way. If you were successful on LinkedIn last year, it’s very likely that things are worse for you this year, even though you haven’t changed.
But it has nothing to do with you. It has everything to do with the “season.”
Seasons change when algorithms change, when economies change, when vibes change.
When circumstances and contexts change.
Notice that summer is on its way in this hemisphere whether we like it or not. Notice that a supply shock is heading our way, whether we want it to or not.
Notice that LinkedIn is less effective, even if we want it to work.
But that doesn’t mean we rage against the dying of the last season. It means we adapt to the new one.
We put the snow shovels away and we bring out the lawnmower.
We stop doing what we were doing on LinkedIn and we try something new. Something better fitted to the season.
Better suited to its priorities, and the priorities of the people we want to reach.
My own advice is changing. Recently, I was focusing on pace, on persistence. But I’ve noticed that my prospects these days are more focused on stability, so I’m adapting my content to fit that “season.”
You can see me doing that right now.
But my way of giving my prospects a sense of stability isn’t to tell them nothing will change, or that everything is going to be just fine. It’s by saying that the way to be fine is to be flexible.
By knowing nothing for certain except that nothing is certain.
The only thing we can count on is our process.
So show it to your prospects. Show them how you do what you do.
Show them how you can count on your process to help you keep your promises.
So they can count on you, too.
