Finding our footing — Kelford Labs Daily

Anxiety comes from uncertainty. Uncertainty comes from instability.

And, unfortunately, that’s the current reality.

And yet, we still have work to do. We still have clients to serve.

We still have bills to pay.

So how do we find our footing when everything’s moving out from under us?

What can help is finding our voice: Knowing how to describe our values and our value to the people who still care, and still need it. And still share those values.

But when we don’t have the words to describe those things, we can feel like we don’t have a voice. Like we don’t have anything to share, anything to say, anything to offer.

We turtle, we ball up and try to ignore everything and try not to say anything.

But we have to remember that there are people out there, businesses out there, clients out there who need us. Perhaps more than ever, perhaps more urgently than ever.

And if we don’t speak up, they won’t know we can help. And we won’t be able to be helpful.

Which is a form of being hurtful.

So how do you find the words? How do you find your voice?

By remembering that your job is to help. So think hard about the people your business and your work can help the most.

Think about the way in which you’re able to help more effectively, more efficiently, more compassionately than other options or the alternative of doing nothing.

Think about the ways you can describe the tradeoffs and decisions you’ve made to be especially helpful, instead of being needlessly expansive or vague.

In an increasingly hawkish world, it’s unhelpful to simply hawk our wares.

We have to help.

Now more than ever.

Now, and forever.
