Make your own path — Kelford Labs Daily
By doing what you like.
Until July of this year, I’d basically given up on LinkedIn.
Engagement was down. Organic reach was in the toilet. And the content I kept seeing was boring, bland, or flat out BS.
So I thought about giving up. And I even wrote a post about why you should, too.
But I didn’t publish it.
Instead, I challenged myself to find a path that worked. Both for my own psyche and the algorithm.
First, I found a community of like-minded business owners in similar fields doing similar work. I started following, engaging, and connecting with cool people doing cool stuff. You know, people making content I’d actually want to Like or Comment on.
Then, I started making my own content in new ways. Explainer videos. News roundups. Deep POV-focused posts that delivered real value in the moment.
Posts that only I could make because they came from my own unique experiences and expertise.
And, guess what? It took a couple months, but it kind of worked:
Not every post is a success (and many still fall completely flat), but I like posting now. And I like scrolling through and seeing my business buddies and what they’re up to.
The lesson is that even if you don’t feel comfortable (or don’t even like) a platform, there may still be a path forward that doesn’t involve giving up.
You just have to create that path yourself.
