Unbelievable AI.
This is a different type of post today, because, frankly, I’m a little speechless.
Here’s the situation: This week, Google released a new feature for their note-keeping app, NotebookLM, called “Audio Overviews.” Basically, it can now create a podcast-like conversation about your notes.
So I loaded up all of my newsletters to date and had NotebookLM generate an Audio Overview, which you can hear below.
Note, this is 100% AI generated—the voices, the script, everything except my own ideas that it talks about.
I clicked a button and five minutes later it was done. (All I had to do was spend a few years writing a few hundred thousand words for it to pull from.)
What it produced is uncanny, and oddly flattering at the same time. It gets things wrong, mispronounces basic words, and completely misrepresents my ideas at least once.
I’m honestly not quite sure how I feel about it.
